About the MV Eastern Star (For Sale in May 2011, $79,900)
This is the MV Eastern Star, a 1974/2005 Willard Vega Voyager Widebody 30' Pilot House, full displacement balasted trawler. (Hull # 99). This is one of only 29 that were ever made in this widebody configuration. This widebody configuration has the most interior space of any of the 30' Willard's produced. Over the past 10 years this vessel has received one of the most extensive refits of any of the Voyager class. In 2000/2001 under the direction of a very knowledgable owner the vessel was rewired and replumbed and all systems, with the exception of refrigeration were replaced. The new systems include SuperStor 12 gal water heater, Ample Power 3-stage voltage regulator, 125 amp alternator, Statpower 20 amp 3-stage battery charger, Sure Power battery isolator, 5 group 27 AGM batteries, Vernalift muffler, Sensormax freshwater pump, OUTSTANDING CUSTOM Heritage PanelGraphics instrument panel/ alarm panel, remote searchlight, FLOSCAN FUEL FLOW MANAGEMENT SYSTEM!!!, Dickinson Newport Propane Fireplace/Heater w/variable flame and fan control with new propane system with electronic control, all new 12v "high end brass" lighting fixtures, several 120/12 volt outlets installed, OUTSTANDING CUSTOM AC/DC Heritage PanelGraphics Electrical Backlit Breaker Center with more dedicated breakers than most houses (you will not find another like this aboard any 30' Willard), TWO UPDATED 50 GAL Custom Aluminum Fuel Tanks, all new fuel lines and connections, DUAL RACOR FUEL FILTER SYSTEM w/MANIFOLD and PRESSURE GAUGE, Hydraulic Steering with W-H Autopilot w/remote, Gulf Coast bypass oil filter, new engine oil hoses, updated engine mounts, flex shaft coupling, updated sound insulation in engine room, new carpet with sound reduction padding, new curtains, new SUNBRELLA fabric exterior cockpit cushions 2010, new interior fabric in master v-berth 2011, new wallpaper in entire vessel, new Formica laminate in most areas, new bathroom formica wall, shower sump to overboard discharge, separate shower light, shower curtain, updated faucets, new headliner installed in saloon and pilothouse, illuminated compass, night "red" pilothouse running light, LED exterior running lights, bilge areas cleaned and painted with WM bilge paint, all sub-flooring painted with WM marine paint, ALL UPDATED ALUMINUM FRAMED/GLASS WINDOWS, updated port lights w/screens, new extra long folding stainless steel boarding ladder 2011, new Sunbrella custom window covers 2009 (all main windows). IN 2005 A COMPLETE PROFESSIONAL "AWLGRIP" PAINT JOB WAS PERFORMED TOP TO BOTTOM. NEW SIDEPOWER BOW THRUSTER WTIH JOY STICK 2008. Perhaps one of the only items that is original is the reliable Perkins 4-107, this is just broken in with 1400 original hours. The Perkins starts and runs flawlessly, and even to my surprise does not leak any oil.
For the past several years this vessel has been in the pristine fresh waters of the Adirondack Mountains, and if that is not enough a few years ago we installed a 20,000 lb. boat lift and that is where this vessel is kept at all times when not in use. We have water and power at the dock and this vessel is cared for with love and pride. We have only loged about 15 hours a year for the past few years and this is why we are considering parting with this one of a kind... quality... unique...head turning...vessel. The vessel is located at our summer home on a small chain of four lakes in upstate New York. (she was originally transported from the state of WA). We are currently offering this vessel by owner until such time as we decide to list it officially.
I have been a member of the WBO group for 8 years and that is how I found my Willard. I also realize that many Willards sell for less than my asking price, however, I have only seen two 30' Voyagers in the past 8 years that were even close to the condition/updates as MV Eastern Star and both "sold" for much more that my asking price. Any real boat owner can do the math and figure the cost of the 8 year refit that was completed on this vessel and realize that what was put into this vessel is far more than what it's asking price is. If they made a 30' ballested pilot house trawler today with all the options that MV Eastern Star has a vessel like that would no doubt sell for $250,000+. There's an old saying, the best time to sell a boat is when you don't have to. All kidding aside, I have enjoyed owning this vessel, I have enjoyed both operating it and showing it to the crowds that it draws at the dock. Would I do it all over again?...the answer is a resounding YES!
